-   Rising Leaders Are Movers and Shakers, Not Coffee Makers!   -

The Rising Leaders Initiative, made possible with support from the Wyncote Foundation, allows White Pines Productions to support the most promising new voices in our professional artistic community through a structured, individualized and deeply meaningful paid internship program.

The Rising Leaders Initiative supports 2-3 new professionals at a time who work to support the administrative, artistic and organizational endeavors of White Pines Productions, such as stage and company management, educational support to include assistant teaching opportunities, marketing, public relations, community outreach, development, design, and executive support. Each internship experience is crafted with the individual Rising Leader in mind, working to incorporate their existing skill sets and passions while helping them to identify and work towards the next step in their artistic, administrative and leadership level careers.

Under the supervision of White Pines Productions Artistic Director and Rising Leaders Program Founder Jennifer MacMillan, the Rising Leaders Initiative is structured to provide active mentorship opportunities, high level “hands on” responsibility and accountability as well as providing support. Rising Leaders can use the White Pines Place, and work with Bright Invention - an ensemble of talented, well-connected, professional theater makers - in the creation of a culminating creative project of the Rising Leader’s choosing.

Rising Leaders work approx. 10 hours a week and are expected to meet bi-monthly with the Program Founder for performance feedback, and to identify goals moving forward within the program.

Rising Leader Randi Alexis Hickey“The Rising Leaders program at White Pines Productions has been a game changing step in my professional and personal growth. I’ve been working at White Pines as the stage and company management Rising Leader for a year now and I find that my confidence has grown, I have a better understanding of the inner workings of a small professional performing arts company, and I’ve made what I hope are life-long friends and artistic mentors. White Pines has become my place to comfortably fail, succeed, take risks and grow in an atmosphere of respect, hard work and professionalism.” – Randi Alexis Hickey 2014-2015 Rising Leader

Rising Leader Mitchell Hansen

The Rising Leaders program is unlike any other internship or resident leadership program in the city. The Rising Leaders program at White Pines doesn’t just focus on what you can be taught in the doing of simple day-to-day tasks but also focuses on YOUR specific interests, how White Pines can teach you and alternatively, how you can teach them. It’s the most exciting program I’ve ever had the honor to be a part of, and the best part? It’s personalized to me.” - Mitchell Hansen 2014-2015 Rising Leader
